My Personal Transformation Below Took Me 4 Months

That’s my own personal transformation above after I made the decision and personal commitment to change my life and really consider what exactly I was putting in my body. It was seeing and feeling this transformation in myself that became a catalyst for pursuing a health coach certification through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

In a nutshell here is my brief story from then to now:

I have four children and a wife, Aymee. They are my WHY.

All of the self-help books I read were repeating a message to me, no matter who the author, to walk outside and meditate. In the past, I was guilty of telling myself I would start on Monday or on the first of the month. As you may relate, MANY Mondays and months went by without starting or only starting for a day and then throwing my commitment out the window because of one bad snack or meal.

I finally STARTED walking every day and meditating before bed. Within two weeks, I felt like a different person. I had lost weight, had more energy and had started making healthier choices for my meals and snacks.

To keep the momentum I started watching documentaries on health. The movie Hungry for Change taught me to ‘crowd out’ the bad food with vegetables and healthier choices. This particular step (education) is what started a (huge) snowball effect with my food choices and focus.

Documentary after documentary is what taught me so many things about food processing and options that I simply never paid any attention to. And truly there were so many right food choices I could have made, and I chose the right path FOR ME. And that’s the point really, is to educate yourself enough to at least make sound decisions about what your body needs (and does not need).

In addition, every week I would not only weigh in but more importantly, I took measurements. Measurements like body fat percentage (from the scale), inches around waist, hips, neck, and arms. This allowed me to see improvements even on the weeks where my weight did not change substantially. It is very possible to lose a pound of fat and put on a pound of muscle. Though some weeks the scale did not change, I DID see changes in inches and that kept me motivated.

Every two weeks I would re-evaluate my progress and level of activity and adjust it. Before I knew it I weighed 190, was running (instead of walking) regularly, had an amazing amount of energy and most importantly my outlook on life shifted. I now have the energy to focus on my relationships, career, and spirituality.

During this transformation period I dove deep into learning meditation techniques and began a journey that to this date has completely changed the way I live my life. I meditate on a daily basis, between 30 minutes to an hour each day. I have added NAAM Yoga 3-4 times a week. I have spoken in front of hundreds of people about getting started and I gladly share easy meditation methods one can do at home. I’ve launched a career based on this passion and I am eager to give back and share what I’ve learned and applied in my own life.
